| Collection Information: | No special patient preparation is required. Obtain specimen by standard collection procedures. | ||
| Transport Information: | Deliver to lab immediately. All specimens must be signed into the laboratory. | ||
| Reference Client: | If unable to deliver to the lab immediately, centrifuge the specimen and separate the serum from the red cells. Store at 2-8° C for up to 5 days. If longer storage is required the sample should be frozen at -20° C. | ||
| Causes for Rejection: | Improperly labeled, incorrect container, contaminated, insufficient volume, incorrect/delay in transport, gross hemolysis, lipemia and icterus. | ||
