Collection Information:No special patient preparation is required. Obtain specimen by standard collection procedures.
Transport Information:Deliver to lab immediately. All specimens must be signed into the laboratory.
Reference Client:If unable to deliver to the lab immediately, centrifuge the specimen and separate the serum from the red cells. Store at 2-8° C for up to 5 days. If longer storage is required the sample should be frozen at -20° C.
Causes for Rejection:Improperly labeled, incorrect container, contaminated, insufficient volume, incorrect/delay in transport, gross hemolysis, lipemia and icterus.

Additional Information:The Rubella Screen is to be used only as a means of determining the immune status of an individual through the detection of anti-rubella IgG antibodies.
